Zombi Holocaust

Hoyts Distribution had a 2429.20mtr (88m 47s) print Refused Classification in December 1980. It was finally passed with an R18+ rating in May 1981 after the removal of 22.10mtr (48s) of footage.Two cut tapes have been released in Australia, one on Starbase Video (83m 18s), and the other on Galaxy Video (83m 02s). Even though the runtimes are a little different they both seem to be taken from the same print and are missing the following.
HAND REMOVAL
Before - The native finishes slicing through the hand and begins to
pick it up.

TURAN'S FEAST
Before - The corpse having its chest cut open.

An initial viewing of the Starbase tape gives the impression that it is not missing too much footage. However a closer look at this version shows that the distributor/censors really let loose with the scissors. Many of the cuts (as with ZOMBIE FLESH-EATERS) are very brief, and do nothing more than tone down the impact.
There is a confirmed customs confiscation of the uncut print from 1992. The OFLC viewed the tape and again gave it an RC rating.
The Australian censorship of this title came finally came to an end in February 2004. Umbrella Entertainment received an R18+ (High Level Violence) for a VHS. The uncut DVD was released in August 2004 and runs 84m 06s NTSC. Umbrella re-issued it in December 2005 as part of THE ULTIMATE ZOMBIE COLLECTION box set. Also included are ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS and BURIAL GROUND. Both contain a 5min 05sec deleted scene that is presented as an extra. This scene appeared as part of the film in the Starbase and Galaxy tapes.
