DESCRIPTION OF THE ADVERTISEMENT
This radio advertisement announces the release of a DVD "Debbie Does Dallas...Again" with the voiceover "...This sequel to the iconic 1970s film features hot Vivid favourites Monique Alexander and Stefani Morgan. Plus a bevy of today's hottest starlets in the...well...smallest cheerleader outfits you've ever seen. Debbie Does Dallas Again. Available to order on DVD now from your nearest adultshop.com store.".
THE COMPLAINT
A sample of comments which the complainant/s made regarding this advertisement included the following:
I object to the advertisement because I find it offensive that pornography is being blatantly advertised on the radio, especially when listeners have no control over what will be advertised next (though I am aware that I have a choice to turn the radio off). It is also worrying that a radio station that appears to have a very young listening demographic thinks that encouraging the use of and purchase of pornogrpahy to be appropriate. I am sure many parents of teens would not be happy to know that this was the case.
THE ADVERTISER’S RESPONSE
Comments which the advertiser made in response to the complaint/s regarding this advertisement included the following:
It is our position that there has been no breach of the AANA Advertiser Code of Ethics.
THE DETERMINATION
The Advertising Standards Board (“Board”) considered whether this advertisement breaches Section 2 of the Advertiser Code of Ethics (the “Code”).
The Board intended to consider whether the advertisement's reference to sex and the language in the advertisement breached Section 2.2 or 2.3 of the Code.
However the Board noted that the product advertised was classified X18+ by the Classification Board on 28 May 2007. The Board noted that the effect of this classification is that the product is not permitted to be advertised in Western Australia under section 91 of the Classification (Publications Films and Computer Games) Enforcement Act 1996.
The Board asked that the Bureau advise the advertiser that the product cannot be advertised and if necessary to refer this complaint to the relevant enforcement agency.
ADVERTISER'S RESPONSE TO DETERMINATION
I can confirm that the radio advertisement promoting the release of Debbie Does Dallas…Again on DVD is no longer on air. Further, AdultShop.com Limited undertakes not to air the advertisement for Debbie Does Dallas…Again at any time in the future.

In January 2008, an Adelaide man was found guilty of importing a DVD of DOLL HOUSE.
During the trial, Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Bolton said that the images in the film:
...were offensive because of the level of violence
A second DVD, the Bizarre Video Production's FETISH WORLD (2002) was described as:
...confronting but not illegal
Guilty verdict over DVD porn
abc.net.au,
January 17 2008
An Adelaide magistrate has found a man guilty of importing a prohibited pornographic DVD.
...ordered two pornographic DVDs from the United States, more than four years ago. When they arrived at a Sydney mail centre, customs officers decided they were in a prohibited class.
.... admitted importing the material but argued it did not offend community standards. His lawyer argued that the images in the films Fetish World and Doll House were similar to material already available in Australia for private viewing.
In September 2008, in the Supreme Court of South Australia, the defendant failed in an appeal against the DOLL HOUSE verdict. The Commonwealth cross-appealed, and he was now also convicted for importing FETISH WORLD (2002).
The full case can be found at Vokalek v Commonwealth of Australia [2008] SASC 256 (19 September 2008).
