In December 1988, an 81m 35mm print of HER VENGEANCE was Refused Registration because of 'gratuitous sexual violence'. Chinatown Cinema was the applicant.
The problem scene was obviously the opening rape of Chieh-Ying by the five thugs. This sets up a violent revenge plot that eventually results in her murdering all of her attackers.
VCDs: Uncut vs. Cut
Two Hong Kong VCDs were released. The Megastar disc was reportedly the more violent, while the Deltamac/Fortune Star one was cut, but contained alternative footage. A detailed comparison between the two versions can be found at Movie-Censorship.
The Megastar VCD reportedly runs 77:16, which would seem to indicate that this was the version submitted the Australian censors in 1988.
