About us

Refused-Classification.com came about due to the continuing limits that are being imposed on what we can see in Australia.

The site was launched in April 2002, with the aim of documenting the history of Australian film censorship since the 1971 introduction of the R-rating.

Since then we have added databases for games, adult films, books, and magazines.

Help us improve the site

If you have any information, or just plain trivia about Australian censorship, then please send it in.
It could include items such as:

Australian VHS information wanted

Most of these titles are in our Film Censorship Database.
Those that are not, can be found in the IMDb.

We need confirmation if any of the following tapes were released in Australia.

Australian VHS and DVD times and covers wanted

Running times and cover scans are needed for the following Australian releases.

Australian cover scans wanted

Finally, many titles that were censored in the 70s and early 80s never received Australian Video releases. Please let us know if you have scans of the original Day-Bill Posters for any title covered on the site. We are also interested in including newspaper advertisments.

Disclaimer

Refused-Classification.com is designed to educate the Australian public about censorship by the Classification Board and Review Board.

The worldwide release information is provided to show how other countries compare with our own. It is not the intention of this site to encourage anyone to import a title that may be prohibited.

We do not buy, sell, trade, or distribute any of the films, games, and books that are listed.
