A 190min VHS was passed with an X18+ rating on June 29th 2004. Despite being listed in the OFLC database as the ORIGINAL VERSION, this had actually been pre-cut by Gallery Entertainment before submission. The review of the film in The Eros Journal Vol.5 No.2 states:
"Due to the ultra conservative guidelines around the 'X' classification in Australia, some of the storyline has been edited out in the Australian version."
A 57min heavily pre-censored VHS was passed R18+ (Mainly Concerned With Sex) on October 13th 2004.
This title is a perfect example of how idiotic Adult film censorship is in Australia.
1. You would be wrong to assume that just because the OFLC lists a film as an ORIGINAL VERSION, that this means it is uncut. This just means that it is the first version that the distributor has submitted. It does not take into account that a film may have been pre-cut before submission. You cannot really blame Adult distributors for this practice as it would only mean more titles rated RC if they did not pre-cut. It does mean however that there could be a tendency to err on the side of caution when making these cuts.
2. Any adult title that attempts to include any type of detailed plot is at risk of censorship in Australia. Those that try and follow genres such a Thriller, Horror, Action etc are going to need to include some violent scenes. These are not necessarily during the sex scenes, just during normal plot development. The X18+ rating allows for no violence at all, hence the reason for the pre-cutting of this title.
3. The true extent of the censoring of R18+ rated titles is clearly illustrated here. It shows how much hardcore footage is lost to make a softcore version. The tape went from 190min to 57min, 93mins of missing footage!

In the Board's view this film warrants an RC classification as
according to Part 1 (a) of the Films Table of the National Classification
Code, it falls into the category of films that "depict, express or
otherwise deal with matters of sex,... in such a way that they offend
against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally
accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that may should not be
classified."
Pursuant to the Guidelines for the Classification of Films and Videotapes, the film is in a special and legally restricted category which contains only sexually explicit material. That is material which contains real depictions of actual sexual intercourse and other sexual activity between consenting adults. No depiction of violence is allowed in the category.
Violence:
25.30 mins. A woman sits at a computer screen and sees a woman (herself)
wearing a blindfold and being restrained by two other
women, One of the women restrains her by holding on to a scarf/collar
around her neck. She makes a tearful appeal from within the screen along
the lines of "I just wanna go to the beanbag party".
46.30 mins. The woman's husband sees a similar image on the computer but this time the restrained woman cries, "please!, oh god". Again she appears to be held against her will.
The remainder of the film can be accommodated in the X classification as it contains real depictions of actual sexual activity between consenting adults.
No revised print has ever been submitted.
